How do you get rid of bed bugs?

For years, bedbugs were a rare occurrence, but many urban dwellers have begun to see a reappearance of these bugs. You will need to determine if your home is indeed infested and then take a series of bed bug remedies to get them removed.

First, determine if your home is infested with bedbugs or possibly you have a mosquito problem or some other type of insect infestation. Regardless of what kind of insect problem you may have, you will probably first notice insect bites.

Watch for bed bugs about 4 to 6 in the morning when they are active. They are reddish-brown in color and similar in size to fleas. If you own your home, it will be up to you to properly sanitize bedbugs, but if you are renting a house or an apartment, the landlord should be responsible for killing bed bugs.

Bed bugs can be quite a problem infiltrating your mattress, and they are even known to get into clothing in closets as well. Also, some have been found in carpeting too. The best way to treat bed bugs is to hire a professional exterminator that knows the ropes and will do a quality job to destroy them.

However, in the meantime, you need to take the necessary steps to get rid of them to prevent the breeding of more bugs until the exterminator’s job has been completed.
  • Place your bedding on a dryer first on a high heat setting to kill the bugs.
  • Lounder and dry again all sheets, blankets, towels, and clothing that may have bed bugs.
  • Wrapping pillows, box springs, and mattress in the bedbug-proof encasement. Tightly sealed will help to keep the bugs from further spreading and should suffocate those left.

Be aware that it may take several visits from an exterminator to completely wipe out an infestation once your home is infested.
